You Got Me.

So there are only two days left in the year 2009. That's pretty insane. It doesn't seem real to me yet. This year came and gone so fast, but I am excited for next year. There are so many opportunities and new adventures waiting for me and I cannot wait to experience them. God's going to do some great things.

I thought I would take a break from cleaning and packing to update my blog and let you know what I was doing and what's on my mind. I'm looking forward to Winterfest tomorrow. It's going to be awesome. It'll be my first time seeing the campus, so that excites me as well.

I guess I will write more when I return home next year.
Let me know if you're reading, it's nice to get a comment every now and again. :)

Welcome back.

Sometimes I forget I have a blog. My apologies.

It seems like Christmas took forever to get here, finally came, and quickly left. It's always nice to see family during this time to celebrate the season together. Now I am packing for Winterfest and trying to find time to write all of these scholarship essays. I'm learning that essays are no fun over Christmas break - but it's not like I have anything else better to do with my time nowadays.

I best be getting to the library to find some more books on nonviolent civic action..
Maybe I'll have something better to write about soon..

Here Comes Trouble

I can't believe it's already September. August just slipped away too quickly and school is starting back - and I'm already almost two weeks behind in my Government class. Oops?

.....

Anyway...
I'd like to take the time to let each one of you reading know how much you're worth. Everyone has flaws, imperfections, and differences, but doesn't that make us beautiful? God created each one of us different - a unique design. Our imperfections and our flaws show just how perfect and flawless our God is. We just have to realize that. And trust me, once you do, you'll be a lot happier.

I wish I had more to say tonight, but it seems that I cannot find the words to keep writing, so I will cut it short. Is that alright? Good.

Awesome September Albums to pick up:
See Through Secrets - Jimmy Robbins (September 8th on Itunes)
Fashionably Late - Honor Society (September 15th)
Found - Push Play (September 29th)
Live Life Loud - Hawk Nelson (September 29th)

And by the way, I'd like to know who's still reading.

New Creation

Once again, I write.

The past couple of days have been pretty chill, I guess. Yesterday morning at 5:30, I was up comforting my bird. Apparently, he had fallen in his sleep and it scared him. So he is fluttering around the cage for a good while before I finally get him to calm down. Charlie was so scared that he wouldn't get off of my fingers and he actually let me pet him. I gave him a little book light, which he stared at for who knows how long until I got up again.

In other news, my application for Liberty University was sent yesterday. My major has changed from Biology to Inter-Cultural Studies - which is pretty means that I'm studying to go into missions. I have to say that I'm excited about all of it. I can't wait to see what God has in store for my life.

That is all for tonight.

Consume me from the inside out, Lord

Greetings! It has been a long time since my last post. I've been a bit occupied recently...

Last week, I had the opportunity to go to World Changers with my church youth group. Two days of driving isn't very fun but we got there and to be honest, I wasn't really feeling it. The first couple of days in St. Louis, I had no idea why I was even there. Of course it's a great experience, you meet other teenagers from around the country, have fun, blah blah blah... but for some reason I just didn't feel right. But, as always, God has a plan and a purpose for everything.
Monday comes around and it's the first day of work. I am struggling to get up at 5:45 to rush down for breakfast before the "Great Send Off", wondering if anything is going to happen to me this week. So Monday rolls by and at the end of the day I am exhausted. I still had 4 more days of this! But by Tuesday, something had changed. My spirit had been lifted just by meeting a few kids in the neighborhood, around the house we were working on. Just by talking to them, getting to know them, and playing games with them, I realized one of the reasons I came. I have never played mother may I so many times in my life - but I really enjoyed it; and I think they did too. Tuesday night we had the concert of prayer instead of regular worship and that was when God really spoke to me. I had been struggling with Him for awhile with His plans for me, I knew what I wanted and I knew what He wanted, but they weren't exactly the same thing. So that night, I surrendered to Him and now look forward to being a missionary. It's kind of scary because I'm not sure where God's going to send me and if I'll go alone or not, but it's also exciting to see what God's going to do though me. I was happy to share with the rest of the group and my parents about it also, I just wish I hadn't of started crying.
So the rest of the week was great. Wednesday we went to the zoo, then went up in the arch - which was extremely cool. The kids hung around the rest of the week at the work site and I was able to get their addresses to keep in touch. I just hope they write me back.

But of course, the devil likes to sneak in after something great happens, after God has done so much, and mess things up. On the way home, I got sick. Monday I went to the doctor and found out that I had gotten the flu. Joy. Luckily today, I am a whole lot better and ready to get back on track with things.

I will leave you with some pictures.
Thanks for reading.

P.S: I had the BEST crew ever.

Fly With Me

It's been over two weeks since my last update. holy cow. (I do apologize...I think.)

Let's see...

The Skillet concert I attended a few weeks ago was fantastic. Their music is great; especially when you're having problems. (That's everyone.) Sometimes I get frustrated with Christian music when their lyrics make it seem like Christians have it easy and we never go through anything. Fortunately, there are bands and singers like Skillet who are not afraid to sing about reality and how ugly it really is - but also show encouragement through it.

I am looking forward to many future events and opportunities this summer; if summer ever comes! I'm ready to get out with my camera and make some crazy videos. Currently I lack the people to do it but I suppose I could drive to Wal-Mart and get the greeters to dance. hm.. If I can find enough people, I would love to make a video with the song, Something to say by Matthew West.

Someone remind me to update more often.

Why does love always feel like a battlefield?

Title Credit:
Battlefield -Jordin Sparks

Hey guys!

It's been awhile, again. I'm sorry. This time I may have an excuse. Last week, as some readers my be aware, I was in West Virginia on a mission trip! And for a quick report, it was great! God's working up in those mountains and I was grateful to be apart of His work for a week! I am looking forward to next year, hopefully able to go with my own church family.

Right now I have this sudden craving for an egg roll. (Preferably one from Red Bowl - located in Charlotte. They have the best, I've decided.) I'm getting distracted by Prince Caspian on the television. I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking at William Moseley. (Or Peter in the movie) He is just too cute; especially his accent.

I better continue writing the newest story I'm working on. I really need to stop starting stories without completing them - bad habit.

My Favorite Thing

Wow. I've been sitting here for at least twenty minutes trying to think of something to type in this post and nothing's coming.

Let's see...
Tomorrow I have to take my SAT test. I'm not looking forward to waking up early and driving down there for a five - six hour test. After that it's packing, packing, packing! We're going to be getting everything ready to head out to West Virginia on Sunday for a mission trip. So this may be my last post until I return unless I decide to post tomorrow evening.

Remember guys, JONAS premiers on Disney Channel tomorrow night at eight! Woot woot!

Keep it real.

Insomnia.

Okay.

Blogger is weird. I'm currently trying to find a good widget to play music and I cannot find anything to work properly. It makes me mad.

Anyway... I am sorry I have not updated in a long time. (I seem to be saying that every time I post - that's pretty bad.) Again, I will say that I am going to try to update every day, even if I only say one word. Commitment is key.

Here's a weird story for everyone. Yesterday, (I think) there was a lizard on the porch. I smiled, looking as the lizard slithered it's way to the other side."Aw look It's a lizard!" I informed everyone around me. Suddenly, it's neck began to swell into a giant red bubble! "Oh my gosh, the lizard! It's going to explode!" I panicked, gaining strange looks from around the kitchen table. Apparently, when lizards do that, it's a mating ritual. (Thanks dad) I don't see that as attractive whatsoever. In fact, if a guy walked up to me and his neck began to swell up, I think I would...well, I don't know what I would do.

I love this song.

She's got this journal filled...

Whoa. I haven't updated in awhile. That's pretty horrible; I'll try to do better.

101 Ways to annoy people.
#28. Do not add any inflection to the end of your sentences, producing awkward silences with the impression that you'll be saying more any moment.

ha.

Maybe I'll write more tomorrow, but for now this is all.

"Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same."

Title credit goes to All At Once by The Fray. Check it out! Their music is awesome. Also, check out Hundred, too.

So this weekend was pretty exciting. Yesterday I woke at six thirty in the morning to take an ACT test at Midway High School. Yuck. I wasn't out until one and I was totally drained from it. After scarfing down my lunch, I took off to the library; one of the best places in the world. They know who I am as soon as I walk in the door. I'm a frequent visitor.
At the library, I had my day made. I was on my way out and a very kind older man went out of his way to open the door for me. It was sweet and definitely put a smile on my face. I guess I'm so used to today's generation of guys not bothering to step out of their path for a lady; and I'm usually the one opening the door for them.
Later that evening, we went to an Easter play. One note on that, it's a bit too much to show Judas after he hung himself, don't you agree?

I held an adorable mallard duckling today. So cute. I want a pond full of ducks along with a beautiful bird sanctuary/prayer garden. Maybe one day...

I'll write more tomorrow possibly, but for now this is all.

Right now.

"I love you more than the sun and the stars that I taught how to shine, you are mine and you shine for me, too. I love you yesterday and today, and tomorrow I'll say it again, and again. I love you more."

I don't have much to say tonight; I'm afraid I'm short of words.

Just to let you know, I fixed the comments. For some reason it wasn't letting anyone post a comment - but it should work now. Sorry about that.

Happy April Fool's everyone. Sarah sure did get a salty surprise this morning!

She still loves me though.

......I think.

Gravity is working against me, gravity wants to bring me down..

Today was a good day. Not much went on but I am still trying to get over the fact that March is soon to be over - in 1 hour! Wow. This year is going by fast.

On my way to the post office today, I almost ran over a tortoise. It was huge; just sitting in the middle of the road. I very much wanted to stop and get it off the road, but it looked too large to even pick up. I could have attempted but I was also scared of getting ran over myself! I just hope he made it across safely. :)

I've been thinking about doing a fundraiser for Noah's Landing. It would be really great and I think it would help a lot, too. I had a nice chat with Jimmy Robbins and he is more than willing to help so that is fantastic! As long as his schedule permits, he will be there. So hopefully everything will go well and it works out. It would be an exciting event, for sure! (And if you don't know who Jimmy Robbins is, shame on you! Check him out!)

Happy early April Fool's day, everyone! (he he)

Get right or get left!

So much for this daily thing. Geez. I'm trying but failing miserably.

Friday I went to Noah's Landing to see what a tour guide's job was. I really liked what they did. You get to hold all the animals and teach the children about them. Everything was fine up until they mentioned millions of years and evolution. Not good. I am still going to be one, I'm just going to do it my way - scratch that- God's way. When I am sharing facts about an animal, I am going to be using my beliefs; and if they say I can't, I'm just going to have to leave. As much as I love that place, I wouldn't be able to stay.

Sunday morning was great. Everything went well for youth Sunday and everyone did such a good job.

I really love my friends. Without them, I don't know what I'd do. They get me through hard situations and I haven't even been able to scare them off with my weirdness! (he he) But I am so blessed to have such amazing friends - I don't deserve them.

And tell me, do you think Alaska needs a Creation museum? :P

You sent me, You lit me, I'm on fire...

Directory pictures are always fun, dressing up and all of that fun stuff. Blah.

Tomorrow holds a new day, hopefully sunshine - even though rain is nice, too. Maybe one day I'll actually go out and dance in it.

My license came in the mail and needless to say, I look drunk in the picture. Oh boy. And I'm not just saying that, I really do. So sad.

This August - Jonas Brothers concert in Charlotte. Guess who has tickets close to the catwalk? *raises hand* That's right, eat it.

Not much to say tonight.

Until next time,

And again, she writes.

Once again, I am updating.

I've tried to stay with it daily, but as you can see, it's not happening. Hopefully I will pick up on this and write something down each day, but until then; this is all there's going to be. Just random updates during the week.

Today I had a good lunch with my youth pastor, Jon, and my sister. I guess you could say my day was pretty relaxed and laid back. This afternoon, as you can tell, I changed my layout. I'm not sure if I like it yet; maybe it'll grow on me - who knows.

Tomorrow I'm off to Noah's Landing again, this time just to watch a tour. If it looks like something I can handle, I'll become a tour guide. I'm feeling pretty confident that it's what I'm going to do anyway. After that, I'll be going around town looking for job opportunities.

I can tell you right now, I'm excited. (Note the sarcasm.)

Maybe next time I will have a little more to say, I haven't exactly been able to write much at all lately and it's driving me insane. It's all inside my head, what I want to say, but I can never write it down. Funny, right?

That's all for now.

Never Gonna Let You Down

Currently listening to:
Never Gonna Let You Down by Rick Astley

Hiya!

It's been quite a long day, or so it seems. Another day of work at Noah's Landing which was fun. I always enjoy working with the animals and such. Molly, the cockatoo, is one of my favorite animals there. She is adorable, always whistling or singing; occasionally talking, too. (In the picture on the left; I'm not sure of the conure's name.)

Charlie is coming along with his song. He is currently whistling The Andy Griffith Show theme song and is doing a pretty great job! He does mess up and get mad at himself for it, but he always shakes it off and starts over again. Oh, how I love him.

Anyway, if you didn't know, I have a twitter! If you look on the page, (hint: it's on the right side) you will see my twitter updates. If you happen to have a twitter, follow me! I already have two followers and to be honest, I have no idea who they are. It's kind of odd. Just remember the link: www.twitter.com/owlgirl24.

It appears that I am short in thought tonight for I do not have much to say. I have thought about something pretty cool, if anyone wanted to participate. (It's lame; go with it anyway) If you want me to blog about a specific topic or if you just want to ask a question, I will write a blog about it! (Told you, LAME!) But really, it's simple and I think it could really be interesting. All you have to do is comment, asking me a question or giving me a topic: Within reason, of course.
I love questions.

Thank you to those who commented on previous posts, you are my inspiration. HA!

Remember, I love you all.

By Your Side

Hello readers and fellow bloggers!

It's been too long. (Or so it seems.) It's been a pretty busy week for me, I suppose. Last Thursday and Friday, my family and I traveled to Indian Trail for a conference; we had a great time. One of my favorite quotes from one of the speakers, whose name I cannot remember, was:
"The Word of God is light and light does two things. It gets rid of darkness and attracts bugs."
I just thought it was quite interesting; and humorous. Anyway, if you happened to attend, I'm sure you would agree it was a great time. However, if you didn't, you really missed out on something.
Let's see, Tuesday I headed over to the DMV to try for my license. Thankfully, I only had to take the road test and I didn't kill the instructor! - Yeah, I passed. That afternoon was spent in the library, because the library is one of the coolest places ever. It's not the biggest or nicest library, but at least they carried a good amount of books; I guess.
If you haven't fallen asleep from boredom yet, I applaud you. Even then, wipe that drool from your chin and sit up; I'm almost done with this post! If you feel the need to comment; please do. I have only received one, and that was from my mother. (I LOVE YOU!) So if you want to make my day, comment. It's open for anyone so go ahead, let me know you're reading. It would be much appreciated.

"...and she'll breath again."

Listening to:
Breathe Again by Jimmy Robbins

It's me again! (Obviously)

This past week has been pretty fun! Friday, as you might already know, I met up with Nicole and Chelsea, two of my favorite people ever, and we went to see the Jonas Brothers 3D movie! Of course it was awesome! We even got an innocent pedestrian to shout! WOO. ha ha
After the movie we headed to Taco Bell to hang out for awhile - where we ended up staying until 10:30 taking pictures with an employee. Fun stuff.

Today I had my first "official" day of work at Noah's Landing. I arrived at 10 - OK 10:30, I was a little late. I got down and dirty and cleaned the bengal cat, spring hare, and fennec foxs' cages. It might sound gross but I loved it. Later I made food bowls for some of the animals and swept shavings with a Patagonian Cavy at my feet.

I've been scared to step out and talk to people, it just doesn't come naturally to me. I can usually talk to strangers better than I can people I know - probably because I most likely won't ever see them again. I'm doing my best to just step up and say something, but as soon as I finally convince myself to say something, I lose my chance. I need to be a good witness and example and build relationships with people, especially ones who need to hear about Jesus and what He has done.

Lastly, I would like to ask everyone to pray for Ashley. You may not know her, but pray for her anyway. (please) She will be going to Haiti in June and she'll need help getting there. Pray that she will get all the help she needs, financially as well as spiritually. I want her to not stress too much about this trip - getting there that is. I can't wait to see what God is going to do through her, in her and with everyone she meets in Haiti. It is truly exciting and I am so glad she is able to go! God is good!

Off to bed!

"Fly me to the moon..."

Hello readers!

It's been quite awhile since I last posted, OK, just about a week, but still. I am currently recovering from a cold - or just sinus junk..not sure. But whatever it is, it's not fun. I have been able to write a little more, at least I attempt to. I really need to get writing more.

Anyway, tomorrow I should be going to the movies to see The Jonas Brothers: 3D Concert Experience. I'll be meeting up with two of my best friends who I haven't seen since December! So I am excited for that. If I can, I'll post pictures in my next post of that "event". ha ha.

I just recently created a myspace for myself - purely out of boredom and curiosity. It took all day just to figure out how to put music on my profile; I guess I was looking too hard. Facebook is a whole lot better, I have to say.

One thing I've noticed though, I haven't had any comments on any posts....hm.. I do have the comments set to everyone so if you do feel the need to comment, go right ahead. :) I would love to know how many people are actually reading this. That includes you.

Thanks for reading!

Update!

It's Meredith here.

It's been a bit hectic this week; painting, new furniture, school..yeah. It's been kind of crazy around here, but not too busy I guess. Tomorrow I will be rising at 5 in the morning for a funeral in Virginia Beach. My Uncle's (by marriage) dad passed away due to cancer sometime last night and I, along with my mother and sister, are making a three hour trip up there to go. It will be nice to see family, though.

Anyway, I received an email today from the owner's daughter at Noah's landing, and they want me to go in Friday for one on one training to be a tour guide! How cool is that? If you don't know what Noah's landing is, it's basically a farm; with exotic animals! I went in for general training on Sunday afternoon and had a great time. The wallaby attached his arms to my leg, it was the cutest thing ever...well, until I was reminded that it was mating season. Anyway, it's a great place and I am definitely going to enjoy working there. It's volunteering, of course, so I won't be getting paid, obviously, but it will look great for college and it's just fun! It's something that I love and have a strong passion for.

I'm looking forward to "bonding" with the animals, it's going to be a blast. Holding fennec foxes, playing with timberwolves, and working with the other animals there will be great. I can't wait and I'm sure you all will hear every detail. :)

That's all for now!

First post

Welcome!

Wow, I sound like such a loser. If you're reading this, you probably already knew that. Well, hopefully every day I will be writing here, about random events in my life and also thoughts that constantly play in my head; needing an escape. I figured a blog would be a great way to express my words, carefully of course. :)

If you didn't know, I love animals and God's creation in general. I believe that God shows Himself best through creation; after His word, of course. There is no way possible that life could have been evolved from lifeless rocks, it just could not happen.

Most teenagers these days are wrapped up in the latest and greatest, in everything. Following what's popular instead of where they really want to be. For me, I think I missed that bus, fortunately. Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and The Bee Gees are some of my absolute favorites - even though I do enjoy some Top 40 also.

What to say, what to say.

If you aren't already bored with this, keep checking in 'cause I've got a lot of free time on my hands.

Until next time,
Meredith
